XRAY: This is a separate room soley for the purpose of Xray diagnostics. It is the only room in the hospital that has all six sides constructed of cement (the 4 walls are cement block, the floor is a poured cement slab, and the ceiling is pre-cast cement panels supported by steel beams). Furthermore, the interior walls and door are laminated with lead!! Various Xray techniques including contrast media aid in supporting a diagnosis and establishing a therapeutic or surgical plan. Xray studies are only a 2 dimensional image of a 3 dimensional animal; therefore different postional views and/or other imaging techniques such as ultrasound may be necessary to confirm a problem area.
